Japan's biggest power utility has begun shutting down a reactor at its nuclear power plant in northern Japan to probe a leakage of fluids containing radioactive tritium.
Tokyo Electric Power Co however says no radioactive substance was detected in water in drainage around the reactor building.
The leak was first spotted on July 28.
The 34-year-old reactor is the oldest of all nuclear reactors owned by Tokyo Electric.
Its operation was restarted last month after it was suspended following a scandal in which the company allegedly falsified safety reports in 2002.
